I resumed diving back in the summer of 2000 following on from an interest that has been with me from my schooldays. To bring my training up to date I joined Edenbridge Sub-Aqua Club, branch 1628 of the British Sub- Aqua Club (BSAC). I am trained up to Dive Leader, with a supplementary Advanced Nitrox qualification. I am also a qualified Boat Handler, having completed the RYA Level and BSCA Diver Cox award.
I hold a BSAC Open Water Diving Instructor grade ( OWI 7026) - This enables me to put something back into our club. As a BSAC branch we depend entirely on the volantary efforts of our club instructors to ensure the necessary training can be offered to any new members, planning on taking up the sport of scuba diving.
Back in 2001 I completed the British Diver Marine Life Rescue course to become a trained medic.
Most of my diving is now with Croy-Tech but I do like to keep in touch with divers outside our club circle and try to dive as often as I can with the UKRS group.
I have also been on several dive trips with both ESAC and Croy-Tech, both in the UK and overseas, details of some of this trips can be found in the trip report section. I have dived in the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean and around the coast of the UK, not to forget the odd muddy pond !
I am currently working on a section for this site that will cover some of the equipment that I currently use, this may be helpful for anyone considering taking up scuba diving.
Update - November 2010
Edenbridge Sub-Aqua club joined with Croy-Tech in the summer of 2010 - this ensured a much brighter future for the membership. Dwindling numbers seriously threatened the future of ESAC. Further information can be found at Croytech
I currently hold the post of Diving Officer at Croy-Tech branch of BSAC
